Village Boards

Meetings are called by or at the request of the Council, staff, or residents. A board will meet at least once per year.

If you have any questions, concerns or comments, you may contact the Village Hall at 231-436-5351.

Vacant Village Board positions will be advertised on this page, and published in newspapers, shared with partner organizations, or posted on social media as needed.

Apply for Boards and Committees

The Village of Mackinaw City has volunteer appointed positions open in the Economic Development Corporation and Tree Board.

Qualifications for members include a desire to serve, a passion for the community, an open mind, some extra time, and in most cases be a resident of the village. Board and Committee members are expected to attend monthly meetings at the Village of Mackinaw City Municipal Building.

Residents with experience in government, education, social and economic development are encouraged to apply. Competitive applications will also come from residents that display an interest in natural resources and agriculture, recreation, public health, transportation, tourism, and commerce. Training is provided by the Village of Mackinaw City and recommended for board and committee members. Click here to view our Training Strategy.

Depending on the Board, members will be appointed by either the Village Council, or by Village President (and subject to Village Council approval). Terms vary by Board, but range from 3-6 years. Upon submission of a completed application, the application will then be sent to the Village President or given to Village Council at least 5 days prior to the vote of appointment.

If interested in serving on the Mackinaw City Planning Commission or any other Committee or Board contact Village Hall at 231-436-5351 or submit the available application to the Village of Mackinaw City, 102 South Huron Avenue, Mackinaw City, MI 49701. Applications can also be emailed to Patrick Wyman, Village Manager, at pwyman@mackinawcity.org.
