Why does someone cross the Mackinac Bridge? Some do it to get to the other side but many do it just for the thrill of the elevated view of the Straits of Mackinac. For more information about the Bridge, go to the Mackinac Bridge Authority’s web site at www.mackinacbridge.org.  You may also link directly to the Bridge Authority's site by clicking on the Mackinac Bridge Authority icon shown on the left corner of the Village's site. This site features a web camera and any high wind warnings as well as historic information and kids activities; or, you can call them at 906-643-7600.

Driving across:
The Bridge is always open except for exceptionally windy occasions. The speed limit on the Bridge is at most 45 mph. It is highly recommended that you obey the posted limit that has been set to maximize control of your vehicle on this rather windy platform.

Always call the Bridge first at 906-643-7600 to verify Bridge fare as it is subject to change without notice.

The Bridge Authority also has a "Drivers Assistance Program" available for all vehicle types for motorists who are uncomfortable with driving across the Bridge.  Please call 906-643-7600 to make arrangements.
